When I installed XP, I put the OS on a 5 gig partition,
not knowing this would not be enough space in the long
run to due to all the windows update files. Now, I only
have 200 mbs left and need to move the OS to a different
drive. Is it possible to move XP to a different drive and
if so, how?

If you have or can get Norton Ghost 2003 it is very easy. I have heard that
if you have a Maxtor drive there is a Maxtor utility that can do it for
free.
Let me know what you have.

Just reinstall on a bigger drive or partition, ask a
local teck.

Hey Diggs,

Even with SP1 and all the the updates, XP only takes up around 2GB,
excluding the pagefile.

Do you have a lot of apps installed ?

How large is your pagefile ? That would be easy to move to another
partition.

Do you have hibernation enabled, this will create a hiberfil.sys file equal
in size to your physical RAM. Check in control panel/display/screen
saver/power/hibernate

Search the drive and find whats taking up the space,
first unhide any operating system files.

Go into my computer/tools/folder options/view

Select "show hidden files and folders"

and Unselect "Hide Protected Operating System files"

Then have a search for large files over say 50 MB

start/search

Select "All files and folders"

Leave the filename blank
click on "what size is it"
select specify size
leave "at least", and enter 50000

click search

Post the names of any big ones if you don't know what they are.

Don't forget the cleanup utility.

Right click drive letter in my computer/properties/general/disk cleanup
