If ,in Vista, i configure the power button ( both the one on the start menu
and the one on the pc ) to sleep the computer, is there a policy that force
user logoff before putting the computer into sleep?

Hi Michele (I know a Michele with only one "l" in Manchester),

START > CONTROL PANEL > POWER OPTIONS

A new window opens.

Click the "Change Plan Settings" link under the plan that you're using.

A new page in same window appears.

Click the "Change advanced power settings" link.

A new window opens.

In the options tree, open the "Additional Settings" branch and set "Require
a password on wakeup" to Yes.

Hope that helps

Andy

Thanks Andy but your answer is not regarding my question.
I want to find a way to logoff a user when he puts the pc into sleep state (
Automatically)

Andy's recommendation works fine, but the user must have an assigned
password, or more than one users must exist on that client machine. With
only one user, and no password, the Welcome screen is bypassed, since it is
pointless.

You can still do what you want, but the user needs to assign a password to
their account. There is a utility available to automatically input this
password on first startup, but will still allow the sleep function to
present the Welcome user icon (when Andy's recommendation is followed).
Click Start, and type 'control userpasswords2' and hit enter. Assign an
account password then put a checkmark in the box for "Users must enter a
user name and password..." , OK, and follow the wizard to allow them to
choose the user and password desired as autologon. One first startup you get
autologon, then on sleep, you get the Welcome screen.

Thanks Mark.
Am i missing something or maybe i was just not enough clear?
I already have more than one user on my pc and both have their own password
and yes the option "Require a password on wakeup" is on.
I have configured the power button on the start menu to put pc into sleep
and when a user click on it the pc goes into sleep and when it resumes from
sleep it is locked by the user who put the pc into sleep. I want, instead,
that when the user click on the power button the pc goes into sleep but when
it resumes it is in the welcome screen, that is no user is connected.
