is it possible to change reminder time defaults?

I would like to set a reminder 4 weeks, for example, before an event. Any suggestions?
 
type 4w in the reminder field - when you tab out of the field, it converts
to 4 weeks.
 
That's great - just what I was looking for. However, how can I get that
new Reminder time to stick, so when I create a new apt, that reminder is
in the canned list of reminder times. Is that possible?
