Is it possible to burn DVD movies? If yes, how?

I recently bought a Sony Vaio computer with a DVD burner. It has a CD- rom drive and a DVD+/-RW/CD-RW drive. I was told that I could make copies of DVD movies that I already own. Will the DVD movie have to be saved onto the computer in order to copy to DVD? If so, does anyone know how it is done? Thanks

Hi, You will need some third party software in able to burn them right. DVD
X Copy is one of the best programs for it.
