Noise is subjective... some sound is listed in decibels but
unless you know the character and frequency, you don't know
how it will bother you.
I can't stand hearing a water dripping from a faucet 30 feet
away, but my computer's humming fans two feet away are just
"white noise" and don't bother me. My wife will turn my
computer OFF if I'm not sitting there using it.
She doesn't mind the sound of her Dell E510, but turns it
off when she goes to bed, because the lights on the computer
bother her.
