Is it or is it not activated?

I noticed lately in the Vista's Welcome Center when I click 'Show more
details' the Windows activation section shows Windows is not activated.
The product ID is present, however, I can go back later through the
same steps and Windows is activated.

Why is Vista inconsistently reporting Vista's activation status?

This is a legit and legal version of Windows Vista Business 32-bit
version received directly from Microsoft -- the Power Together web site.

Start | Computer | Right click on Computer and choose Properties. At the
bottom of the display will show your Activation status.

The problem is that the status of activation keeps changing. One time its
activated and another time its not activated.

Oh yeah... sorry. Weird for sure.

Mark,

For what it's worth department but I recall reading in another group that if
you go to the MS site and download a program that requires WGA, that will
cure the problem. So force it to do a validation and see what happens.

Sorry, can't recall what group that was in but if you DAGS, you should find
more info.

I remember reading that tip in the XP general newsgroup. Thanks for the
tip (or reminding me of the tip).

Seems strange that Vista (and XP) at times can't remember if its been
activated. That's a little scary because if the OS in-activates, you
may need to battle MS to activate it again.

Hi, Frankster, I tried your advise I went to look mine the Windows
Acitvated. But Why is different Product key on my computer than the Product
key attached to my CD boxes where I entered during upgrading my windows
Vista?.

And you might as well make the most of it.

Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?

-- Yeah, I always strap on my bomb belt before making my Indi-6 call for
re-activation just in case I have to apply a bit of persuasion to the
call-center representative to cough up the Big Number. ;-)

Mine is different too. I don't think it's a Product Key (like attached to
your DVDs) but instead a Product ID. I don't know where the Product ID comes
from.

same problem with me, btu iv used the genuin advantage check and its still
telling me i havent activated windows, very worrying. M$ get your act
together!

I have the same issue from the "Power Together" Vista - mine finally decided
it wasn't genuine and I had to re-arm so I can go on with life. Is MS going
to fix this, or am I going to have to fight through the activation phone line
and them accusing me of piracy before I can get it straightened out. I love
being told my product key is already in use.
