Is it feasible to covert a SCSI scanner to USB or Firewire IE13394

I've tried converters SCSI/Firewire - USB and they don't work, the software doesn't see the scanner. I just didn't know if it was possible. The scanner is a Heldelberg Saphir Utlra 2 and I'm running it on a MAC (OSXTiger) so I think I'm in the wrong forum but it's worth a try - sorry guys.
