IS IT A VIRUS

When i start windows it works for a couple of minutes,
then it freezes, if i try the internet it freezes, and
then when i restart it is a pitch black screen and then i
off it and wait a while like half an hour or two then it
comes back on but the same thing happens again what is
wrong with it plz tell me.

I would look at hardware first.

Reseat everything in your computer and clean it out good. In fact, try
to locates a good "burn in" utility or hardware diagnostic that can
run from a low level boot before Window ever loads. That can tell you
if you are having a hardware problem vs a software issue.

You didn't say what windows platform you are using, but XP will
typically blue screen if there are driver problems, but in the case of
"freezes", that has to be at the hardware layer in the way you are
decscribing it.

Lastly, if hardware is still OK, look for virus, trojans and spyware -
they run rampant on the internet and will install silently if you have
your interrnet connection wide open to all traffic! And you won't even
know it.

Limit cookies, get a firewall, software fiirewall or a router that has
blocking utilities. But more over, make sure your system is clean!
