I wouldn't at all say the game sucks (to each their own there), but the
aliens you fight against definitely did strike me as being more appealing to
children than to adults, and that the game also seemed cartoonish to me as
well.

halo runs fine on my system

2600xp barton @2300mhz
radeon 9700pro
512mb corsair xms 4000pro

Badly on what? Pentium II 400 with ATI 9200se?

yes, the game engine is crap... but it does run good on my ATI9800Pro
and Ti4200 on AMD 2500 & 2000 CPUs.

Try UT2004, better engine. www.unreal.com - free demo.... The
ONSLAUGHT game is smoking - kills HALO.

Yeah, I uninstalled the damn thing after half a day. It's probably the most
disappointing big budget game game I have ever bought.

Fortunately, I went to my brothers place, played Halo 2-player start to
finish in one week. No need to spend money on the PC version for myself, and
no disappointment.

Have they fixed the fact that the AA doesn't really work in the game yet?
Yes, it does suffer from horrible edggies in the Xbox version as well.

bye, Rick

Slow on my system as well will i load it up and play it again ??

Read the help files, as if you lower the settings in the ATI control panel
it will make the game look absolute shit.
What is your system so we can say how well it should expect to play.
I thought it was quite a fun game, especially when you get in the scorpion.
Pretty straight forward though, and not a bad story line to keep things
interesting, but the AI voice was really annoying.

I love the grunts yelling out shit :)

As specialy when i kill one of them :), they all look at me and i say
WHAT was not me :)

Nope... its a crappy game in some ways (the engine), its amazing it
works at all.

Maybe the console version would be 640*480. IMHO it looks pretty good at
1280*1024 on my PC.
But Rick is right it's not a buyer, just a rental.

er... the game ART is fine... the graphics engine is crap... its about
3 years old. It shows... its weak, and its very slow for what it
does.

Load up the UT2004 demo, (www.unreal.com) play the Onslaught level...
then get back to me and tell me how HALO is just as good. (I mean
that in a good way).

hmmm, never said HALO was better/worse than UT2004 (which I haven't looked
at yet). What is the single player like in UT2004 ;-)
I am merely saying there is nothing wrong with the way HALO looks compared
to other games of it vintage. I would certainly expect a new game would look
better that a 3 year old game wouldn't you?

Exactly.. MS should've release Halo for pc atleast 1 year earlier, maybe 2.

But released now, it should have been either:
- No bugs, No flaws. Fully optimized for pc, ex. new/enhanced graphic engine
for pc hardware.
- If none of above, then make it a budget title! Yeah M$ you did earned a
lot of cash selling good XBOX version. Don't expect the same from pc ver.

LOL - You tell em!

Bare in mind... I can be equally fair and see good and bad about the
same item/subject. ATI and Nvidia both make GOOD and bad products
(ATI is doing more good than bad currently)

HALO is a good game in its own way... especially 2 some odd years ago.
Concept, art etc... map design on some areas are pure shit (like
going up and around that "CORE" thing during the flood... when the
stupid robot says "youre almost there" and going into 20 rooms that
look EXACTLY alike. But for a 2003-2004 PC game - it should have
been a $20 title.

UT2004 is currently a DEMO only - a few more days. UT2004 is a
multiplayer game, not much story - strickly battle.

yeah... but just have to educate the kiddies who think HALO is a kick
butt game with awsome graphics and game play.... cause its
multiplayer abilities due suck the big one.

What one person thinks is a "kick-butt" game and another thinks is crap just
comes down to preference.
No point in having the best looking game in the world if it is boring as
hell.
There were things I didn't like about Halo as well, but at the end of the
day the pluses out weighed the minuses (for my taste).
I know people who absolutely loath multiplayer, (but I like it, ADSL soon
hopefully!) and love knocking down houses and rebuilding them in the Sims.
That kind of a game puts me to sleep.
If someone loves a game I hate, who am I to tell them otherwise?

Agreed... Unreal2 is easily a more advanced ENGINE over HALO - but
halo was a better game as a "package" - very Sci-Fi like - while
Unreal2 was more generic Game-sciFi. But there was never the BS of
20+ identical rooms ;)

Yes, true.

Multiplayer is what gives a game longivity.. but overall, its a
different type of gaming;. Imagine 6 friends helping you out on a
standard level in HALO? Rather than stupid BOTS hanging around
waiting for you to pick them up and become target practice for the
enemy.

All I'm saying - HALO engine and some level designs SUCK. And its
multiplayer module is a complete joke. Out of its 20included maps,
only 4-5 are playable - most are crappy little maze rooms. And the
game is "slow-mo" which is okay for some folks.

Run your HALO game as a "server" LAN to get an idea.... notice how
youre all alone. With UT2004(2003 and 1999) you can tell the game to
throw in some BOTS to play with or add for a 2 vs 2 battle (and theres
only 2 humans). When you get your DSL, go to www.unreal.com -
download the demo (209mb) Yahoo mirror recommended. And try it out,
especially the Onslaught mode.... Play by yourself for a bit, then go
online.

as of this moment, there are far more people playing UT2004 DEMO (the
full game isn't out yet) then HALO for online gaming.

Let me know how it works out... ;)

Pleae remember, I ENJOYED the HALO single player game experince 90% of
the time. I kinda ignored its out-dated graphics.... the mood and
feel of the game was good. But I wouldn't have paid $20 for it... $10
yes...
