Perhaps the best kept secret on the Internet, each Spymac membership

i don't like the interface also, but that is just a matter of taste.

I have tried and tried and tried and tried.......to get an
account there but no luck. The registration process was so
messed up and I wasted almost 10 disposible emails without
able to get an account. Bounced me off everytime.

Yep. Ghastly process. I finally got an account by saying I was from
the USA and typing a few random numbers into the zip box :-)
It took about 5 email addies to get there.

I did like the gender question, though;

ok, today is the day, I just went back and did it
successfully. Don't know what I did right, though. I also
got the Gmail but I swear I won't use it for email (keep
asking my browser to switch Active X, what's the deal!). I
will just use it to store my freeware (1GB, good enough for
that)- they can scan whatever they want to :-P

I tried - error after error! Clicked on 'continue to step 2' - nothing
happened. Tried to register again but was told a member already has the same
name and email. Tried to log in with that data and was told no such name
registered!
Tried with new name and email - didn't pass the image verification, though
it was correct three times!
Aaaaaah!

Eventually I got through to the next page and it said the name is no longer
valid, but still can't use that name to register afresh.
Weird. Is someone playing with me?!

The site obviously has some problems. Any errors will kick you
off and put whatever you have entered into the database and
tell you the username and email is not valid anymore when you
try again.

Yet, if you still want to give it one more try, here is what I
finally did (has to do it with no error):

Make sure you have an address you have not used in this reg
before.

Make sure you have a new name that you have not used in this
reg ever before (sucks, I know).

Make sure to bybass/switch off any proxy/disallow setting

Make sure to at least set browser active x Java script to
either allow or prompt

If you get any error AT ALL, going back won't do - one more
username or email address down the drain. Need to go through
all the above steps again. :-( sucks!

Make sure to start afresh, bypass all proxy and security
settings, and also clean your cookies/cache before every
retry, too :(

Thats strange... I have Proxomitron running with HEAVY filtering and I
disallow nearly everything exept for session cookies and java script, but I
had my account up and running in one minute.

But at a first look in the forum I saw a thread about the email service
running quite smoothly latly - that means it wasn't running smoothly before,
does it? Not a good sign.

It's a Macintosh-fan-site, thats struggling against many new 1Gig accounts -
I wouldn't use it for important data. But 1 Gig is 1 Gig ;-).

I had the same problems, and it blocked me from using the user
name I wanted. So I wrote to tech support giving them the
information. They set up the registration in less than day.

OK, I tried with my proxy disabled, and I got that little bit further!
I got the message that I'd taken over an hour since starting the process - I
had taken about five minutes!

I'm rapidly running out of email addresses... better go open yet another
yahoo account.
