Hi togehter,

Is fbreseal realy necssary? I cloned a XPe image to severall CF Cards without
running the FBA resel phase ;-}. The images do work. In what cases is the
FBA reseal really necessary? What disadvantages might occure?

Bill Gates' pager will go off. He will walk to his closet, which only has 4
PC's, wave his pager in front of them, and they will pinpoint your exact
location.

He will then dispatch the "Windows XP Embedded FBA non-resealer eradication
team". This team will swoop into your home or place of business with
lightning fast speed, and slowly walk you through the virtues of resealing.
Not once, not twice, but 32 times. No bathroom breaks.

Honestly - I don't know. It's Friday, it's been a long week, and I had to do
something completely unproductive such as draft this response.
Have a nice weekend.

The one reply was interesting.

Fbreseal give you a chance to boot the system make changes and reseal the
image. If you are able to setup your system and let FBA seal the image, than
you don't have to worry about fbreseal.

Biggest issue is that the SIDs need to be unique if you are using them
on a network, especially if they are using any windows networking
features. The same issue exists for cloning workstation images -
google probably has plenty of info..

Otherwise - no idea :-)

I've never used fbareseal, I include the "newsid" tool from
sysinternals instead...
fbareseal just mess things up for me, like loosing settings etc..

Or if your deploying the images using Norton Ghost, use Ghost Walker, to
change the SID and computer name.

Hi togehter,

I use networking on our system. But only standard TCP/IP with FTP. No
Windows networking. I think the system do not need a SID in this case. Yes I
know, it is not a big deal to give the system a SID. But basically, if you
are not using any Windows network features the system do not need a SID.
