Is BITS is XP specific?

Hi,

Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) is used to for automatic
update.
I would like to know whether it is Win XP specific?

I have never used it myself, but I had a look around. There's a version
history page here: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa363167.aspx

This page shows that version 2.0 of BITS also works on Windows 2000, so
BITS is not generally XP specific - all newer versions of Windows also
support it. I'm sorry, I don't know what drawbacks would be involved in
targetting a specific version of BITS for OS compatibility reasons.
