I have the ATI Radeon 9000 128 Pro running Far Cry.
The only problem I've had so far is obviously due to
errors in the game code. It occurs at the same point
every time, and I have finally put together some pretty
good ways to get around the problems. In 3 of the
levels, there is a startup problem. I don't know exactly
what it is, and I've tried all kinds of suggestions .. none
of which worked. So now when I get to the end of
the level just preceding the problem level, I use the
console to "warp" to the next level ... that is
\map <level name> .... like \map boat ... and the next
level starts up just fine, and on I go. I see no problems
with colors or frame rate, but I'm running in Low mode,
so some of the eye candy is missing. Still the game is
very enjoyable, and looks good. I paid $68 for this
card, and when the prices get reasonable I'll get the
9800XT . I think that will be a while. Something else
.... I have access to a test machine ( a very good one )
running an ATI Radeon 9600XT 128 ... that card looks
great ... lots of eye candy in the game, but the game
has problems. I don't see a "slow" frame rate, but
there are things like the kick of the sniper rifle. I find it
impossible to hit a Merc with that rifle, because it seems
to skip frames and never be on target. I do not have
that problem with the ATI 9000, and the sniper rifle
is one of my best weapons. ??? Don't know why, but
I would be some kind of irritated with a high priced
card doing stuff like that. So, I'm really enjoying Far
Cry on my 9000.
