Confused

I would like to know if AdAware do the same thing as
Microsoft AntiSpywareBeta does? I have been suggested to
add Microsoft...'s for spyware of my machine, but I have
AdAware and I think that both do the same thing, am I
wrong? Are they different? Thank you for your time,
Confused

I find that you should use both. adaware finds things that MSAS does not
and MSAS finds things that adaware misses. Just remember THAT COOKIES ARE
NOT REALLLY THAT BAD. MSAS does not scan for cookies yet, so don't get to
upset

Well, with MSAS you have a strong "real time protection" which
Lavasoft Adaware PE dont have (Pro version has it) .

MSAS and Adaware PE is a really good combination beacuse
in this world with never ending spywares users need redundant tools.

So install MSAS and keep Adaware. Latest version 1.06R1

Hi

This is up to every "thinking" user to deside, is a tracking cookie "a
intrusion to your privacy" ?

http://www.lavasoftnews.com/ms/display_main.php?tac=Tracking Cookie

TAC - Tracking Cookie

TAC Level: 3

A tracking cookie is data stored on your computer in the form of a
cookie and is shared between two or more websites to enable them to
track your movements across the web. This will help them gather
information about your interests and tailor special marketing for you
and gather statistics when visiting their sites. While these tracking
cookies are NOT in any way harmful for your computer you might feel
they are an intrusion to your privacy. Ad-Aware supplies you with the
ability to remove these tracking cookies if you wish to do so.

For Ad-Aware SE Plus and Ad-Aware SE Professional, Ad-Watch can be
configured to block tracking cookies. In the Options screen in Ad-Watch
check "Block tracking cookies" and Ad-Watch will block tracking cookies
before entering your computer.

JoeM, I don't see why I should get too upset if MSAS does
not scan for cookies, unless it ruins my PC, you know,
LOL. Should I just download MSAS and do nothing to
AdAware before installing MSAS? I want both programs to
work together, not to confuse them, the way I am with
this technology. :) Thank you for your time and your
quick response.

You do not need to do anything, just install MSAS. You can use both MSAS
and Adaware together. Just remember there may be some problems it is beta.
Make sure you read before deleting anything out.

True, just I think spyware is the biggest problem right now and that should
be top priority.

Thank you very much JoeM and plun. I have the Lavasoft
AdAware Professional, and I'll go read now more about
MSAS if there is something more than what I read now.
I'm terribly concern to start to have problems with my PC
because I read some of this Newsgroups' letters and some
are scary to read, and would not want to be in their
boots. So, here's crossing my fingers until maybe MSAS
is older and fix flukes that I think it has. Thank you
again for your great help, I am less confused now thanks
to the both of you. Have a great week! PS I
copied/pasted all the help I got here.
