I have an agp video card that has to use irq 11 and it
can't share the irq with other devices. How can I force
other devices to not use irq 11. Currently my usb, nic,
and soundcard all share that irq with the video card and
it causes my system to be very unstable. I tried going in
to device manager and then to resources to change it by
hand but the check box is grayed out that I need to use.

Hi,

You said it is a AGP vedio card, are you sure you have
placed it into the AGP slot? (The AGP slot has different
color with other PCI slots)
What brand is your mobo and how many PCI slots it has?
If you are sure that the display card is properly placed
into the AGP slot, then try to swap the other devices to
other PCI slots. For example, Lan card to CNR slot or PCI
2/3, sound card to PCI 4/5, usually the sound card should
be placed far away from the AGP.

Hope it helps.

Peter.

AGP won't fit in any other slot.

the card was made by Visiontek it is a pretty old card but
it is agp. My mother board is a Trinity KT-A S2390B. I
am sure the card is in corectly. In the manual for the
card it says that the card has to use irq 11 and it can't
share that irq with other devices. I just can't figure
out how to force the other devices to use a different
irq.

I presume its just been fitted. Does the m/b support older AGP cards
which run at a different voltage?

If it does or is a non-issue, another way maybe to go into your Bios &
uncheck P&P OS (to off) then reset configuration data (ESCD) - setting
in the Boot tab on my Bios. My P&P OS is set to off & my aging nVidia
AGP card is the only item using IRQ11. My m/b also shares an IRQ with
one PCI slot - nothing shares it. More on the IRQ setup with XP:
