irfanviewer question

Larry Smith

I've used the outstanding irfanviewer for years and periodically
update to its latest version.
I believe the latest version is 3.91 which I recently put onto my
Windows 98 computer.

The one thing I'd like is for the default setting to be when I go
File-->Open that I am in DETAIL view and that the files be sorted in
descending order by date.

Is that do-able? Does it require one of the plug-ins?

I've lived with it this way for years so it's no huge whoop if that
can't be done but it seems like such a versatile program should be
able to provide that little option.

TIA

I'm running v3.85 and in the Open dialog box there is an option to
click on to show window in Details. As for order by date, I think you
have to have your Windows Exporer windows set to show files by date
and then this applies to Irfanview as well.

Hi, what do you want? Detailed view or sort by date?
There is a preview and detail check box below. Try clicking it.

Thanks for the feedback.
Perhaps I didn't express my request properly. I was hoping to alter
the DEFAULT setting so that each time I use irfanview that I would
have to hit the button to switch to detail view, then drag the
vertical column separator over so I can see the date, then hit the
date bar in order to sort by date.

And I'll look into the explorer windows setting thing.

best,

My version (3.91 on Win2K Pro SP4) remembers to show detail in the open
dialog.

My v3.91 on Win XP Home SP1 does NOT remember to show details and I DO
have Windows Explorer set to show details.
