I am going to help a friend with scanning and e-mailing pics, and my
favourite viewer/editor that I have used for years is Irfanview. I
have received contradictory info when looking at Tucows to download as
to whether Irfanview will work with his Win95 machine.

Does 3.85 work with Win95 or could someone please guide me to a
version that does...thanks.

Sure it does -

Actually there are issues... specifically with the version of comctl32.dll
installed on the machine. One way of getting around this is to import an
early 1998 version of this file onto the user's machine. Another is to use
an earlier version of Irfanview...V3.30 works pretty well with win95. A
third option is if the win95 user has upgraded IExplore to v 5.0+

If you need v3.30 let me know... I can upload it somewhere for you..

When I was running '95 and befor Irfanview came on the scene, I used
to use a program called Lview. Irfanview seemed to pick up where Lview
left off with %+3 filenames.

Cheers,

I was looking at the headers of an e-mail he sent me, and I don't
believe he has upgraded Outlook Express/IExplore from the version that
came with the machine...probably 4.0 vintage. I think going with
V3.30 of Irfanview sounds like the best option if you don't mind
uploading it somewhere.

Thanks very much.

recently had this problem, 3.8 didnt want to go on 95
i wrote mr irfan himself and he answered that the latest (3.85) should do
the trick (thanks irfan)
not having 3.8 i installed 3.05 and that worked
