According to Microsoft AntiSpyware scan I just ran, the famous
IrfanView contains Brilliant Digital Adware. Any care to comment? I
suppose it could be a false positive, since other scanners don't
complain.

Thanks

Igor

More like the infamous MS Anti spyware

Seems highly unlikely. I use Irfanview (currently version 3.95)
exclusively and see no sign of Brilliant Digital.

There are so many files associated with Brilliant that is common
enough to have picked up one or two.

You don't say which files are detected and where they reside. If you
post that information and your version of IV others can check their
Irfanview for the same files.

http://www.iamnotageek.com/a/399-p1.php lists the files and a removal
technique

False positive. On my system it detected this registry key as BrilliantDigital:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.b3d

It's an image file association.

Maybe you just have IrfanView associated with the .b3d file extension ?

If you check it out properly you will find that .b3d is also used in some
image formats.

During installation there is the option of eBAY support for IrfranView.
Could that be it?

I've had Ad-Aware find that one BEFORE MS's anti-spyware program
I have IrfanView on my machine but haven't had any 'spyware' for weeks
now. I put that BDA in my forbidden sites in IE.

My guess is the e-bay thingy is the culprit. Just MHO.
