on Win 2000 Professional
i can't install external nokia 6100 like a modem

it don't start automatic installation of a new hardware.

The same phone works on xp professional

Need some driver?

try setting the speed of your IR to slow IR, often they default to fast IR.

ensure your win 2k is up to date with service packs I beleive there was an updated ircomm.sys
applied at one time.

ensure you run the latest software and drivers from Nokias website too
 
Hi,

I have just done this with my Nokia 5100. I needed to download the Nokia
5100 device driver from Nokia's website. The driver file is called
"Nokia_5100_Infrared_2000_XP.inf", so maybe you can do a search for it.
After that the phone connected fine,
