Hi, I have a small LAN of 3 PCs one running W2K server and the other 2
running W2K pro. I am trying tu use IPX/SPX protocol.
My problem concerns the definition of network numbers. I have firstly
defined the frame type as 803.2 on all machines, then specified both internal
and external network numbers as all zero (00000000) on all machines. The
result is that the two work stations can communicate, but the server cannot.
After reading up in MS knowledge base, it seems that the server will not
accept an all zero internal number, and assigns itself a random number when
you try to start this protocol. SO, I then tried setting all the machines to
the same internal, non zero number (00000001) with the external number all
set to 00000000. (the server remembers this) still no luck.
Any help greatly appreciated.
BTW. File and print sharing installed, and TCP/IP networking is fine. All 3
can see eachother and share files without any problem.
Latest service pack installed and directx 9 installed on all machines. They
are all connected by a 3com router Active directory is installed and DHCP and
DNS forwarding is activated on the server.
