IPOD shuffle inability to charge on my dell computer

I have a laptop dell and a desktop dell and am unable to charge my IPOD
shuffle on either....do I need special software or am I doing something
incorrect...I am computer challenged!!

Check their FAQ's

Open Windows Media Player>Play>check Shuffle.
On IPOD I have no idea for I have avoided it so far.
