Ipod HELP!!!!!

Just got a brad new Ipod. Everytime I try and transfer songs (even manualy) I get the blue screen of death. Have called Apple support and thier only suggestion was to buy a new firewire card, does any one else have another suggestion? Thanks

The screen flys by very quickly, but it does say beginning dump of physical memory. Then the computer crashes and restarts immediately followed by a very long disc check.
