ipconfig

I am looking for a printer on my network and when i bring up run, ipconfig,
it opens then promptly disapears. I am running vista

You need to do ipconfig from the command prompt. Start Orb, Search box,
type:

cmd [enter]

Click on the cmd link that appears to get the command prompt and type:

ipconfig /all [enter]

I don't know if you need to run as Administrator to do ipconfig but if
you do, right-click on the cmd link and choose "run as Administrator" to
run cmd elevated.

The problem has become more complicated.....
I have a d-link wireless router, one computer downstairs hardwired to the
router and one computer upstairs using the wireless connection. I also have a
big Ricoh printer hardwired into the router. Everything was running great,
until i removed the hardwired computer from the network and moved the
upstairs computer downstairs and hardwired the connection. {The wireless
card is disabled, but green light is still on}
I also use network magic and it claims my printer is off line. Ipconfig/all
can't find it. The light on the printer network card is green, so it appears
it's on the network, the system just can't find it. It must be invisible, i
have created a monster.

So the problem isn't how to run ipconfig, it's really that your printer
has disappeared from the network? Or just can't be seen from the
computer you moved? You didn't do anything to the printer?

I think we need to know if the printer is seen from your other computer.

I tried to install a network card from an other computer and see if i could
bypass the router and its not compatible with Vista and try as i might i
could not get the drivers to download and open/ wasted day...... anywho, I
brought my laptop in from my truck( I am an over the road driver) and it
shows its on line but won't print.
I have had this printer for a few years and everytime it disapears, it has
been because the IP addresses have been messed up. I can usually work my way
through it, but not today.
I did not change the printer when i move Vista down stairs. I did change the
wireless router. I had a linksys wireless before, but it wouldn't stay in
gear, and since my phone is connected via the internet (clear wave/ one wave)
I changed it out. May have compromised the ip addresses????

Currently my router is : internet ip address- 63.165.214.3, ip address-
192.168.0.1
My computer/workstation is :192.168.0.100 Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Ricoh printer is 192.168.001.110 subnet mask 255.255.255.0

It looks french to me.
what say you???

If you manually assigned the Ricoh's IP address and it really is
192.168.1.110, you've got it on the wrong subnet now with your new
router. It needs to be 192.168.0.xxx. Refer to the Ricoh's manual -
either paper or online - to see how to reassign the IP address.

I took a break. Changed the IP address on my printer, used the add a printer
wizard and in less than 5 min I printed a test page. Thank you so much.
