First, open a command prompt window:

1. Click Start | Run.
2. Type "cmd" in the box.
3. Click OK.

Then, type the "ipconfig" command. To close the command prompt
window, type the "exit" command.

Yes I see this but i want to know where on xp I can release or refresh
my ip address . Like on 95 . where the command was "winipcfg" .I have
road runner ( a direct connection)
I wamt to be able to be off line when not browsing .

Right click your network connection, and click properties

Click the "support" tab, and then "repair".

This will release and renew your ip information
