I need help with this. My ISP said I could have two ip
addresses for my computers so that I can share Internet
with both. I am not connected to a network yet, but I'm
going to. I do have a network card installed on one of
them, but when I try:

ipconfig/release, then type ipconfig/renew at the command
prompt, I get get this to work.

My ISP said this will work. I haven't got a network card
installed on the other machine yet. However, can anybody
tell me how to get this to work with one machine for the
time being?

Try rephrasing your question. What is the problem you are experiencing and
how do you know there is a problem?

Is your ISP charging you for the additional IP Address? If so, get yourself
a router to connect both computers to the Internet and your LAN.

Sam,

as BobC already wrote, we need a bit more information.

Here's a general source of information related to cable modems
and cable Internet connections.
