Hello experts,

As an experiment, I installed a new D-Link DWL-G520 PCI
wireless card (with its uncertified drivers) on a Win2k
server which already had an Intel PCI NIC running. After
uninstalling the wireless card and drivers I have a
problem:

The remaining (Intel Pro100+) NIC is functioning
correctly and ipconfig correctly shows its configuration,
but the TCP/IP properties page in the Local Area Network
properties page incorrectly shows that the it should
obtain its IP address automatically.

I've found similar problems described and the only
solution has been to uninstall and re-install TCP/IP.

In my case the Uninstall button is greyed out. Maybe this
is because it is a domain controller?

Any ideas?
thanks, Andrew.

Silly qustion here, but I take it that this is not how
your tcp/ip was set before. And if your answer is NO then,
are you sure??

KB 299451 explains why the TCP uninstall button is greyed
out. It is a domain contoller.

I've tried many things to get back to how it was set
before. My guess is that I failed to properly uninstall
an interim card. This card (D-Link DWL-520+) has been
returned to the vendor in exchange for a new D-Link DWL-
G520. No, I'm not sure. The problem may have existed
since I removed the DWL-520+.

Assuming that I cannot get back to how it was set,
because I no longer have that card, my plan is to get
back to a healthy state on a single card by re-installing
TCP/IP.

I'm not yet sure when I can get to this, as the system is
working as it is. The only problem is that I cannot
display the TCP/IP parameters using the GUI.

Nobody is interested in this thread unfortunately.

Following the steps in 299451 fixed the problem, but I
had a subsequent problem where the domain controller did
not know which site it was in.

nltest /dsgetsite failed ERROR_NO_SITENAME

This prevented Exchange 2000 from running, and I could
not fix this, so I restored, and am back to the original
problem.
