$IPC share keeps disappearing

I'm using a windows 2000 server with multiple win2000
clients connected through NETBEUI..
My problem is that IPC$ keeps disappearing and I cannot
use the named pipes..
Any solution?
I looked at the registry and edited the autoshareserver
and autosharewks to 1
but IPC$ would still disappear once in a while.
I have checked for viruses, but none were found.
any help or tips would be great.
thanks.

You shouldn't be using the NETBEUI-protocol, but the TCP/IP protocol. Are
the server and clients fully patched?

thanks for the reply..
yes all clients are patched and have its own IP address.
I am not who set up this network so I am not sure what is
what..
TCP/IP protocol is being used, as well and Netbeui.

I already did that..
in fact I'm trying to find a way I don't have to run this
command every hour or so..
Any more ideas?

Are you positive that your virus signature is current? That type of problem
seems to almost always be caused by some sort of virus infection. If you go
to http://securityresponse.symantec.com/ they have an online virus scanner
that you might try, just to be sure.

did you try looking at the registry? look under local
machine\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run
there might be an entry like net share ipc$ /delete /yes
or something like that..
