ipc$ is missing HELP!

i am running a home network between desktop laptop both
running 2000 pro. Desktop can surf laptop but laptop
cannot access desktop. Desktop IPC$ share is missing and
don't know how to reinstall it. Any help PLEASE!

Use "net share" command on the shared computer to check share status. If
there is not a share named "IPC$" in the share list, use "net share ipc$"
command to create it.
