Dunno, they're both good. Tell her to try both and go for whatever she prefers.
I'd go for the Samsung Netbook meself, nifty little machine.
She'll possibly need an external optical drive, costs about 30 quid.
I think the Netbook is smaller and it uses Windoze or Linux whereas the Ipad will use Apple's Operating System, White Lion, Furry Ocelott or Sea Slug, or something.
Or can the Ipad use Windows now?
