The problem I have is when I type in www.google.com in my
web browser it resolves to the wrong IP address and points
towards the wrong site. When I go into a cmd window and
ping www.google.com, I get the wrong IP address there
also. But, if I do an nslookup on www.google.com, it comes
back with the IP address that points me to the google
website.
I have verified my dns settings are correct, checked for
any hosts or lmhosts file entries on my machine, manually
entered DNS and WINS addresses instead of getting them
from DHCP. My settings match our other boxes and they are
not having the same issue.
I have the same problem trying to get to altavista.com. It
resolves to the same bad address as the one I get for
google.com.
My machine appears to be virus free but I'm confused on
what else to check. It's probably soemhting that's right
in front of my face but I keep overlooking it.
Any help/thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike H.
