IP address question:

I am sure this has been answered 100's of times but I cannot figure out what the proper IP address is for any of the machines but the server. For example I can logon my server at my house from work, no problem, but when ever I try to logon any other machine on my network at home I cannot get connected. The machine I need to get connected to is my laptop.

Here is my question. If my IP address for my server is 66.26.140.84 (a dynamic IP address that changes often) and my IP address for the laptop on my network I wish to access is 192.68.0.223 then what IP address would I use to log onto my laptop?

I have tried 66.26.140.84 and 192.68.0.223 and 66.26.140.84:192.68.0.223 but nothing has worked. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Jim, when you say 'logon' do you mean VPN or Remote Desktop? If it is
RD, you need to have each computer listening on a different port (the
default is 3389), and then forward that port (probably via your
router) to that particular machine. Then when connecting from the
client you would enter the ip and then the port number
(xx.xx.xx.xx:3369). See these articles to change the listening ports.
