Dear all,

I've problem with my server, sometimes when I try to ping
my server, the result is REQUEST TIMED OUT, but when I
use -t option, after several times, result is REPLY
FROM .....

Is anyone know what is the problem? When I try ping my
computer from the server, it REPLY FROM ...., the network
connection status is OK...

I've scan with Ad-Adware, no trojan or spyware installed.

Thanks.

Are the servers or computers on the same subnet?
What OS are you using?
Do you need to go through any routers or switches?
Is your DNS current?
It almost sounds like you have a bad link or partial connection
through a frame relay.

Dear Randy,

Yes, it is in the same subnet, my OS is Win 2000 Server, the DNS is correct.
This problem occurs for random user and sometimes happen and sometimes not.
FYI, it happen only to my email server and my ISA Server.
We don't use frame relay.

Which email program are you using?
I'm assuming ISA is W2K. Check your FSMO role holders and see if you
are getting an intermittent error message on them. Check your event
viewer on the machines that don't connect under the system log for
errors with the IP. It could be a DNS issue with tombstoned records
or a faulty MX or A record. Use the resources from the W2K resource
disk, or download them from MS Technet. Do a domain check, and admin
check and a DNS/WINS check.

On those machines that get the time out, have you done a cmd or dos
prompt and tried to ping the FQDN of the machine you are trying to
connect to? It could be an AD issue as well. I'm just throwing out
ideas here as this type of problem, (as I'm sure you're aware of) can
be a pain in the @#@ to find.

Open up MMC
AD Domains and Trusts
AD Schema
AD Sites and Services

Right click, properties

Hope this helps!

Randy

Thanks for the info, but in my server there is no AD Schema.. and I try to
see AD Domains and Trusts and AD Site and Services, there are no problem with
the properties...
Is it possible the problem is on my switch?
