I've been getting adds from diffrent places using the same
method. there is somthing like an IP message system in
windows XP that allows this to happen. i was wondering if
there was a way to block these messages and/or turn this IP
messageing system off. i'll get a screen shot of one when
it comes up but from what i tried, nothing stops them and
i've lost so much time recovering from the system crashes
they cause. i know for sure its not a virus or a worm since
i have 2 anti-virus programs on my computer and i have a
firewall. please, help me. Email-me if you can tell me how
to fix this. Thank you.

This one was asked about yesterday, and I answered it then. It's been
asked about 30 times before that. This is also the wrong group for youe
question. In future, I suggest that you search groups.google.com for
your answer, as you're likely to get your answer a lot quicker.
<old git>Back in my day, ISPs would send you information on how to act
on usenet, and one of the things mine said was to read a couple of
weeks worth of posts - and preferably the FAQ - before posting
yourself, to make sure you were in the appropriate group and not asking
something every lamer and his dog had asked three times a day for the
last six months... mostly because if you were, you'd be ignored at
best, and more usually flamed to Belgium and back. This, of course, was
before google, or, for that matter, dejanews. </old git>
Anyway, what you need to do is go into the services control panel and
find the messenger service, stop it and set it not to start
automatically.
