My buddy bought a new Linksys WRT54G wireless router. I
set his internet connection as PPPoE as instructed by the
his ISP's faq...automatically his notebook wireless card
recognized the network and internet and had changed to the
internal IP (192.168.1.1XX) as it should, however his
desktop, which is connected to the router with the
ethernet cable, did not obtain the internal IP
automatically like it should. Ive tried 'IPCONFIG' to
renew the IP to see if it would change it and it didnt
change. Ive checked his TCP/IP properties for the auto
obtaining of IP's and it was ok and i matched all other
settings with the notebook and still no network or
internet for the desktop. I even installed another network
card and still no good. The router is currently set up
for wireless and LAN connections. I was going to reformat
it cuz i know that will work but its a Compaq PC and i
know that those are a pain to do that to most of the time,
what do you think the problem is?
