We have an IP confilct problem on our network. All of the workstations and
1 server have static IP addresses. One workstation and the server are
getting IP conflict errors, even though the IP addresses are not the same.

What could be causing this problem?

Thanks for your help in advance!!

- Make a note of the conflicting address.
- Set up a permanent ping (e.g. ping 192.168.10.55 -t).
- Go to your hub/switch and disconnect one cable
after the other until the ping fails.
- Find out what's connected to this cable.

When you get an IP conflict, you get specific information. Perhaps you
could share that with us. What is in the log file on both systems?

If you're running NBT, you can shut down the workstation and:

nbtstat -a <ip address>

....and you'll get enough information usually to find the system with the
same IP.
