IP all zeros unable to use DSL connection

I

IanO

I have been using DSL for over a year.
One day, it stops working.
I can connect with a dial modem connection (which I am using now ;)

With the help of Bell South's and computer manufacture tech support
technicians I have tried:
A new DSL modem
A separate PCI Network adapter.

On the last session with Bell South, I thought to try my laptop with
the DSL modem and it
worked.

So the fault lies with my desktop computer XP SP1.
Is there a kit that I could install that would refresh all the files
that are used to make the connection?

Oh the symptoms are:
On runing ipconfig I get IP all zeros
subnet mask all zeros

Attemps to renew the IP address failed

Disabling and renabling the internet cards have not fixed the problem.

Please post any and all suggestions for the next step

Thanks in advance
IanO

Ian,

Are you connecting directly to a DSL modem without a NAT router? Are you
otherwise protected?

Assuming that the ISPs DHCP server is working (which you confirmed using the
laptop), and your physical connectivity is not a problem, you have an LSP /
Winsock problem.
