IP Addressing Problem

Ok, i have got a machine that gets its IP from DHCP but
yesterday we had a new phone system installed and the
switch they installed needed to use the same IP address
as the machine i have mentioned above. So i give the
machine a static IP address.

So now everything is ok. I have exclude this IP from
disturbution in Active Directory in the address pool. Now
i want to change the machine back to DHCP instead of
static but for some reason it is still taking the switch
IP even though i have exculded from the address pool in
AD. I have used Ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew
but it is still taking the switch IP again. The machine
has been rebooted but still doesnt work? I have also
checked the lease expire, which is 24 of this month??????

Any Ideas?

Try to delete the IP in DHCP MMC.
It is IP in inside the range of the scope? Why you try
reserve rather than excluse?

Creat a "Reservation" for that address in DHCP that doesn't conflict with
the Telco. When you release and renew, the computer will have the reserved
addrress.

-ds

I have tried reserving the IP and it still doesnt work
and other ideas

i cant delete the IP address because it belongs the
switch for the phone system, and if i do that it will
bring it down????

you r screwed. leave it in static ip becuz the machine
gets ip in dhcp from its hardware address, which is a
constant as long as u keep the same motherboard.
