My computer restarted after an auto update and now I can't connect to the
internet using my router. The computer recognizes the router, I have changed
cables but I am still getting the 169 default ip address. I have tried the
"release" the "renew" process without any luck. I have had the router
checked and it is ok. I have even tried plugging the computer into other
ports in the router and still no luck. I am having to use a wireless adapter
for this computer but need to go back to the wired connection. Any ideas?

Obviously a DHCP problem.
Use of DHCP still set in TCP/IP-properties of the NIC ?
Any events in the 100x range in event viewer referring to DHCP ?
