Running Win2000 on a PC connected to an AS400 server. To
connect to the 400, we are using TCP/IP. When I enter an
IP address in the NIC, it won't keep it. Exiting the
properties for the NIC, it goes back to "Obtain an IP
automatically". I'm not sure why I can still access the
400, but it does lose the connection a few times a day.
Why won't my NIC keep the IP addy I put in there?

When you do an ipconfig /all do you still see the correct IP address?

If you do this could be a known issue.

Also if this is a Dell stop, SNMP and the Intel Lan Agent drivers etc, and
see if the problems goes away. if so, call Dell. :) We have seen this type
of an issue with some of the older Intel lan agent drivers.
