i am recieving an ip address conifct error on a new
machine that i am setting up. I ran a ipconfig and the
address is 192.168.1.109. so i did a ns lookup and the
right computer name poped up. and everything is right in
dhcp and dns. It shows that no one else is sharing the
address. I recently just freed up some space in dhcp
becuase it was totally full, now i have around 11 open
addresses. The address 192.168.1.109 is one of the new
address that dhcp has assigned. I need to know if there
is anything else that i need to delete or add to stop the
ip address confict from popping up. any answer is
appreciated.
(i can get on the internet but after a while the ip
address confict error pops up and i cant get on anymore.)

what about a ping -a on that IP address. I saw this exact behavior with
Win95 machines that had IP addresses from stale leases. ping the
machine and get an answer from one mac, ping -a and get an answer from a
different machine....

i have the pc turned off and i am still getting the same
computer name, when i do a ns lookup. Do you think that
it has anyhting to do with lease duration date or
anything like that.

The only other thing I can think of is to check WINS if you are using
it. Maybe there is a static IP machine out there, and it is not
reporting to the DNS...
