Hello all,
I recently had a file transfer prog that stopped working due to being
Firewalled, it was previously working OK.
I hunted through Norton Internet Security settings to find out what had
changed but nothing had, I disabled NIS and the prog was still firewalled, I
then checked the settings of my D Link router and checked the IP address and
ports that I had previously allowed access to.
After then running IPCONFIG I noticed that the IP address of the computer
had changed, what would cause this??
The only thing I can think of is that this machine is dual boot (Partition)
WinXP and Win98, it defaults to XP which I use most of the time and is on a
small home Network.
The other day I was trying to get the Win98 side of the PC working and
removed and installed some Networking Protocols, could this change the IP
Address of the PC on the Win XP boot partition.
Why do IP Addresses change?
Many Thanks
