Hi all
I have the following Invoice Report from Access 2002 Order Entry Template.
The sizes are as shown

Page Header 1.25 inches
Order_ID Header 2.25"
Detail Section 0.22"
Order_ID Footer 3.08"
Page Footer 2"

Can Grow/Can Shrink is set to No for all the above given sections.

I have increase the size of the Page Footer to 3.08" so that a maximum
number of 8 records are displayed in the Detail Section.

But if I have less than 8 records in the detail section the 'Detail Section
Shrinks' and shows a big white space gap between the Order_ID Footer and the
Page Footer, which is what I dont require.

How can I rectify this problem.
My invoice will have a maximum number of 8-10 records in the detail section.
Any other suggestion or work around to this problem would be very much
appreciated.

In other words I want my Detail Section to have a standard 'Fix Size'. I
went thru the NG looking for the solution but could not get one, so as a
temporary workaround I stretched my Order_ID Footer to get the desired
result.

TIA

Hi Rashid.
I think we have a little confusion with terminology.
You say if you have less than 8 records, the detail
section shrinks and you have a large blank space before
the group footer.
If you want the group footer directly below the last line
in the detail, you need to set the can shrink for the
detail section to yes.
You also say you want maximum 8 lines in the detail
section but than later you indicate you may have as many
as 10 lines in the detail section.
I am not quite sure what you are trying to accomplish.
Please post back wiht further details.
Also keep in mind there most printers have a non-printable
space (usually about .2 or .3 inches), keep this in mind
if you want to precisely format your printed page.

Hi there,

You say if you have less than 8 records, the detail
section shrinks and you have a large blank space before
the group footer.

What I mean by this is that I have designed my Invoice Report to have 8
records displayed... and it works fine for 8 records.. but if there are less
records then the Detail Section shrinks and also the Order_ID Footer
shrinks.

If you want the group footer directly below the last line
in the detail, you need to set the can shrink for the
detail section to yes.

This is what I dont want... My requirement is to have a standard type for
invoice irrespective of the number of records in the Detail Section.

You also say you want maximum 8 lines in the detail
section but than later you indicate you may have as many
as 10 lines in the detail section.

This was just to have something in the store for the future use.

I am trying to replace the Invoice Report with a preprinted format... I am
doing the printing on a Plain Paper now.. but the resemblence required is of
a pre printed format!

As regard to the non-printable space, I am aware of it..

Hope I have made my problem clear to u now.
Thanks for your prompt reply.

Rashid. If you have the can shrink properties for the
various bands in your report set to no, and the same for
the text boxes, they should remain at least the specified
height. There are still some questions, your detail
section is .22 inches high, how do you ever get 8 lines in
there?
Or are you having summaries in the footer.
I have included my email above if you wish you may send me
a copy of your mdb maybe with some sample data. I'll
gladly look it over. I you do send the mdb file, just
remove the extension (mdb) because otherwise the virus
detectors will remove the attachment.
