invisible slide footer

I just modified the footer on the slide master and title master by changing
the background of the text box to a gradient, moving it to the bottom of the
slide, and stretching it between the left & right margins. However, when I
exit Slide Master View the footers disappear.

How do I make them visible on the slides?

Which version of PowerPoint are you using? do you by chance have a
background image the is covering up the footers?

in 2007 go to insert menu, click on the icon labeled header & footer and
select footer. click ok. do you see the footer on your slide now?

Thanks, Phil.

No, that doesn't work. (I actually found that tip on the forum before I
posted; sorry I didn't mention it.)

Thanks, Michael.

I'm using 2007. So, much of what I painstakingly learned in previous
versions is now useless (again).

I do have background graphics, which were part of the sample presentation I
used as a starting point. I think you're on the right track, because I
solved the problem by saving my footer as a PNG (I think I used right-click >
Save Picture), deleting the footer, importing the PNG, and locating it at the
bottom of the slide master. I reckon this probably makes more sense than
using the footer placeholder, anyway.
