3 computers on home network; connected to internet through MIMO Airlink 101
router. Computers are:

Main, Windows XP Media, has Trend Micro PC-cillin internet security
Have disabled windows firewall as PC/Cillin has one

Laptop, Windows XP Pro

Basement, Windows XP home

Main sees other 2 computers on network places workgroup, but does not see
itself. Other 2 computers see each other but not Main.

Ran Angry IP Scanner on laptop; shows IP address for Main as dead, but when
asked to show hostname, groupname and MAC address, does see that info for
Main.

Relevant Windows IP Configuration on Main:

Let's start with a look at "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each
computer, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!):

Problem solved

My brother in law's friend provided the answer. For some reason, Dell
Computers may require this solution.

From Local Area Connection Properties, I uninstalled "Client for Microsoft
Networks" and "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks." Re-booted
the computer and re-installed the features. "Main" popped right up on all 3
computers, file and printer sharing is working OK.

Why this worked, I have no clue. But the results are all that matter.

Chuck, thank you for your prompt response. I've visited your blog and it's
very informative. I learned a good deal about other operating issues and
picked up some very nice diagnostic tips. I very much appreciate how generous
you are with your time and vast knowledge to help out the computer community.

Thanks for the encouragement, Dan. There are numerous problems that could be
reset by an un install / re install of the network components. I'm glad that
worked out for you.
