invisable computer on network

I remember a number of years ago tweaking Windows XP--I
can not remember whether it was a registry entry or an
option in a "msc" file, but my result was that no other
computers on the LAN can see mine as there in the network
neighborhood and what not--in essence, my computer does
not "speak up for itself" on the network, although the
network functionality is otherwise perfect.
This "invisable state" is not an option I want any longer
and would like to return it to its previous condition.
If anyone knows how to do this, please email me at the
above address. Thanks,
Guy
PS Please remove "NOSPAM" from the address, or else I
won't be contacted.

I should note that my computer:
1. does not have a firewall set up, and
2. is not invisible to itself, only to other computers,
and
3. responds to both its own name and ip address
when "\\blah" is entered into start=>run, just will not
respond when other boxes do this.

Thanks again,
Guy
