I've got a Class C IP adress, so my adress is visible over
all the internet. Using the Remote Assistance, I want
someone to connect to me, because I'm visible on the
internet, but I want to take the control of is computer to
gives support to that person. As we know, the person who
begins the connection is the expert, but in my case it's
going to be the opposite.

Is that possible using Remote Assistance or via another
software.

Thanks.

Have you looked at the Remote Assistance pages. The Novice issues an invitation to the Expert (you)
to view and/or take control of the Novice PC using either Messenger, Email or the File method. I
think you have it backwards...or your thinking of Remote Desktop...

From the FAQ...

Q. What are the differences between Remote Desktop and Remote Assistance?
A. Remote Desktop and Remote Assistance use the same underlying technology, but there are
differences between these features.

a.. Remote Desktop allows access to a remote Windows computer. For example, when you are at another
computer you can use Remote Desktop to connect to your work computer from home and have access to
files and applications.
b.. Remote Assistance allows a helper to use an Internet connection to access your computer to
provide assistance. The helper views your computer's screen and communicates through a chat box. The
helper can remotely control your computer to resolve a problem.

If both computers are Win XP PRo, then yes, just use Messenger 6.0 and it's
a piece of cake.

If not, then don't know since I'm looking for the same answer.

Ok...

If your in a domain environment or trusted domain environment, you can "Offer" Remote Assistance...
Look at these KB articles for help with that which I presume would work through a VPN tunnel...

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308013
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;301527
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;310629
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;306496

Otherwise, you need to use the Email, File or Messenger methods for the "Novice" to invite you the
"Expert" to help with a RA session. See the previous references...

I believe David Jones gave you an answer earlier on how to access/control your W2K box from a XP
box. Your choices are either NetMeeting Remote Desktop Sharing, VNC or this application that I have
not tried... http://www.deltasoft.hr/remote/

Get the VNC server and client from...

http://www.realvnc.com or
http://www.tightvnc.com

NetMeeting is built-in to XP and 2000 and can *NOT* be upgraded. Look at this KB article for help
with RDS...

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;233175

If this is over the public internet, then keep in mind the VNC data link is *NOT* encrypted like the
NetMeeting RDS link is, if that matters to you. Some folks run VNC through SSH or VPN tunnels.
