I would have to guess yes.
Ms-access is a visual basic development tool that lets you build verity any
kind of commercial quality application. I don't see why a inventory system,
or an accounting package written for ms-access would be any different then
any other commercial product in the marketplace.
Software is a very creative endeavour, very much like making movies. Some
movies are really good, and some movies are REALLY REALLY BAD.
Software is exactly the same. Some software is really really bad, and some
is just great.
When put up a fence, the amount of talent does not make a real huge
difference. However, when you look at movies, the talent of the people
involved who make the movie makes a HUGE difference.
Everyone wants to jump on the bus and go to Hollywood and be a star.
Unfortunately, VERY FEW people have the talent to become a successful star.
The exact same thing applies to developing of software. Software is not like
a table, there is NO physical part to it, it is product of the human mind.
You can't blame a bad movie on the camera. You also can't blame a bad
inventory system on ms-access. There is a huge difference in talent out
there.
So many business seem to forget that software is a product based on talent
like the movie industry. Much to the sadness of many business, software is
not like a photocopier, and much to the sadness of many business, you
actually have to seek out talent and excellence when purchasing software.
You can build super good inventory system in ms-access, and you can build a
crappy one.
You can learn to play the banjo, but you can't possibility fill a coliseum
like the Dixie chicks can.
You can learn to write some code, but if you want a really good inventory
system, you need to hire some real top notch developers. Or, the company
that you purchase the inventory system from is will have to have this
talent.
And of course, the sample inventory template is really just a free sample
with little value to anyone.
