Invalid Syntax Error & Other Issues...

Howdy! I'm having the same problems many people seem to be having as of
late... when I open Internet Explorer 6, it goes to the requested webpage for
about a split second, then reverts to an "Invalid Syntax Error" message with
http:/// in the area that tells you what webpage you're on.

I've run all the spyware / malware / adware busters I can find... AdAware,
Spybot, Shredder... nothing seems to be working.

I'm connecting on dialup from home, this isn't a network / user login issue.
Just before this started to occur, the following happened on my computer: I
told it to shut down. It went to the shutdown screen and said something like
'computer will shut down after updates have been installed.' Never saw that
happen before.

I use AOL to connect. And if I use AOL's browser, everything works fine - I
can connect to webpages. Although, oddly enough, when I type into the AOL
browser, it sometimes ignores certain keystrokes and I have to go back &
spellcheck what I wrote so I can re-enter the letters which the computer
chose to ignore.

So that's it. Anyone out there with any suggestions?

Thanks much!

Im having the same problems. I can't even run a scan on Exploer to see what
the problem is because no site will open up without being redirected back to
http:/// Should I go with a system restore? I just had a new update a few
days ago
