Invalid or damaged bootable partition in Win2K

I have Win2K server on a RAID1 controller on my ASUS board. The RAID drive
has 2 partitions. I rebooted last night and for no reason I can think of, I
got an 'error loading OS'. I booted off my Win2K cd (my ERD floppy is
corrupt I found out, ugg). I tried reinstalling 2K in a new folder and on
the first reboot after the first step in the install process, I got a new
error "Invalid or damaged bootable parition". If I try a repair, it says it
can not find a Win installation.

I went to the Recovery Console and it offered me my working install and the
new one I tried. I logged into the RC and tried FIXBOOT and it didn't work.
I have yet tried FIXMBR with the device name as I read there's a chance one
could loose their partitions. I did type FIXMBR itself and nothing appeared
to have happened.

I got some ideas from searching he groups but that 'invalid or damaged
bootable partition' error was not a common phrase in results.

Can anyone pass along any suggestions?

Thanks

And does the raid controler utility report anything? eg out of sync etc?
Since you have a mirror, tried disconnecting one drive and booting?
If that doesnt work, reconnect to same sata conector, then disconnect the
other, and test.

Tried the hd manu checking utility, assuming it is able to detect drives
connected to a sata controler (not all can)

The RAID utility reports it is working normally. I thought about just trying
to boot off one drive and if I screw it up, I still have my backup.

In the Recovery Console, I can see all my files as my partitions are in tack
like I said. I think what I might try is use the Map command in the Recovery
Console to see the device name of my RAID array, and then use FIXMBR and
point it to that device and see what happens.

Something I did the night before, before I got pissed off with it all and
turned it off, worked. haha I used FIXMBR. The system booted up last night
when I went to try and get it fixed. Good news for me.

Cheers
