Dan

I have a computer from work and I hooked it up to my home
network and stupidly changed the Network Config from the
Domain to Workgroup. Now when I try to change it back to
access the work server, it won't let me because it says:
"The following error occured validating the name "(My
domain)" This condition may be caused by a DNS lookup
problem. The specified domain either does not exist or
could not be contacted."
Now I know the domain name is correct. What can i do so i
dont have to take it in to the company's slow tech
support? Thanks

You're going to have to have your network's tech support folks repair the
damage you've done.

I have quite similar problem. I also changed Domain to
Workgroup, but I cannot even logon to my work laptop
(W2K). Reason why I changed it from domain to workgroup
was that I wanted to share my home files (Win XP) to work
laptop. How could I now logon? There are no domain
available in W2K logon screen. I have
tried "domain\username" and "(e-mail address removed)" but it
does not work. Any ideas what I could try next?

Same reply - your IT staff at work will need to repair the changes you've
made, while you're with them ask them how to use the laptop off the domain.

:I had the same problem before my current one. Go to
: http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/
: to find out about it how to reset the administrator's
: password

....for your OWN pc. you're probably already in violation of company policy,
this will not make it better. Causing extra work for the admin needlessly
is not recommended.

If you need to connect at different accesspoints please

I have found it to be very useful and it has saved me a
